RECENT RECIPIENTS
The Outer Banks Community Foundation presented scholarship awards totaling $16,650 to 17 students at the First Flight High School Senior Awards Evening May 24.  Students who received these scholarships included, from left (seated), Raven Bostic, Martha Henderson, Sami Jo Murray, Mary Kat Keith, Madison Ambrose, Nicole Watts and (standing) Nick Evans, Danny Robertson, Gray Pugh, and Cory Smith. Hillary Hutchins, Ben Pack and Ashley Ruth, not pictured, also received awards.  The Foundation works with area individuals and organizations to establish scholarship funds to help outstanding students attend college.
The Outer Banks Community Foundation manages scholarship funds that gave awards to two graduating seniors at Currituck County High School. Jason Hartsell, left, received a $1,000 renewable scholarship from the Peggy O’Brien Scholarship Fund, and Mandi Jones, right, received a $500 scholarship from the Lucian Griffin Scholarship Fund.   The Foundation also renewed a $1,000 scholarship from the Tom O'Brien Scholarship Fund for Shannon Weekley's sophomore year at University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she is majoring in architecture.
The Outer Banks Community Foundation manages Scholarship Funds that presented a total of $24,050 in 19 awards to 12 graduating seniors at the Manteo High School Senior Scholarship Awards ceremony May 23.  Receiving awards were, left to right, James Daniels, Cody Hooker, Brett Antinori, Hannah Cos, Mary Wickre, and, standing from left, Nick Yelle, Chris Ellison, Sarah Hyde, Emilene Whidbee, Alex Boncek, and Andrea Cahoon.  Not pictured: Steven Goldsmith.
Outer Banks Community Foundation Board of Directors President Helen Fored, left, congratulates Amy Bryson, graduating senior at North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, recipient of the $5,000 Milton A. Jewell Scholarship Fund award. The scholarship is renewable for a total of $20,000 that will help Bryson attend Boston University.
